Where is Bohol - How to Go to Bohol

Bohol, a two-hour hop south of Cebu, is an attractive little island where life today is pastoral and quiet. The only sign of heavy tourist activity is on the beautiful beaches of Panglao, a magnet for scuba divers and sun worshippers, close to the utilitarian port capital of Tagbilaran. 

Most visitors only leave the beach for a day tour taking in the Bohol's most famous attractions: the much-touted Chocolate Hills, a glimpse of the  endangered tarsier , lunch on the Loboc River and a visit to the Blood Compact site, memorial to Bohol's violent past. Those with more time will be rewarded by trips to other parts of the province, including the adventure centre at Danao, the attractive island of Cabilao and the pretty beaches of Anda. 

Bohol is also renowned for its wonderful old Spanish churches , many of them built with coral, which can be found all over the island, notably at Baclayon and Albuquerque. May is  fiesta month on Bohol with island-wide celebrations including barrio festivals, beauty pageants, street dancing and solemn religious processions.

About Fr. Josemaria Salutan Luengo

By Atoy Cosap Relatives and friends of the late Rev. Fr. Josemaria Salutan Luengo can bid their last farewell on Tuesday before he will be laid to rest at the Tubigon Catholic Cemetery after a requiem mass at 9 a.m. at the St. Isidore Parich Church in Tubigon, Bohol  . Fr. Luengo, who had been an inspiration to many, passed away last August 29, due to complications following a stroke in 2004.  It maybe recalled that sometime in 2000, Fr. Luengo undergone a heart by-pass operation in the United States. Some of his greatest legacies of being a priest, educator, and philanthropist were the establishments of Mater Dei College and Salus Institute of Technology in Cabulijan, Tubigon, Bohol.  He also supported the studies of some deserving youth who later became priests, CPAs, mentors, engineers and other professionals. Bohol Election: Comelec Reshuffle

A reshuffling of elections officers all over Bohol came in effect last April 19 has assured the people that no election officer may show bias to his local chief executive.   New Tagbilaran City Election Officer Atty. Ricardo Villares bared this as he stressed that the rigodon should put election officers away from the allegations that they are conniving with the mayors and other local officials to assure their victories.   Villares, who came from vote-rich Loon also said the Commission on Elections has almost finished its preparations  for the elections.   Other than testing and sealing the Prescint Count Optical Scanners (PCOS) the Comelec would also have to attempt to transmit the results of a test run within the next few days.   Bohol election officer Eliseo Labaria Jr also said he hopes polls in Bohol would go smooth and peaceful, urging losing candidates to candidly accept defeat and stop being sore losers by spinning tales of being cheated. - PIA

Tagbilaran Mayor Draws Battle Line

By Sunday Post Less than nine months into the May 2010 elections, the lines have been drawn.            This was the observation given by Tagbilaran Mayor Dan Lim regarding next year's polls.             "With very few exceptions, most voters in Tagbilaran have already made up their minds on whom to vote," the mayor said.            Lim noted that the people already know whether they are supporting or rejecting his bid for a third term.            The mayor pointed out that wherever he goes as part of his daily visit to the puroks in the different barangays, he can tell that people have already made a decision.             "It is doubtful if there is still any development that can make them change their minds," he added.            Lim said that unlike in previous years, the early decision made by prospective voters is the demarcation line between those who appreciate his programs and projects and those who don't.             "Those who approve of ...
