Victims of Sulpicio Lines Boat Tragedy

The provincial government extended P5,000 financial assistance each to the 53 relatives of the victims of the ill-fated "M/V Princess of the Stars" that sank off Sibuyan Island on June 20 at the height of Typhoon Frank. Gov. Erico Aumentado, Vice Gov. Julius Caesar Herrera, provincial board members Cesar Tomas Lopez and Alfonso Damalerio II and provincial administrator Tomas Abapo Jr. personally.   Forty-nine of the 53 relatives have not yet recovered the remains of their kin who sank with the Sulpicio Lines vessel. Based on the 53 names released by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) that were confirmed Boholano passengers of the "M/V Princess of the Stars", only three have been confirmed to have survived the sea tragedy while one dead body was recovered, says provincial social welfare and development officer Constancia Tuñacao. - Bohol Chronicle
