The Battle Between Bohol Chronicle vs Dan Neri Lim

By Boy Guingguing Bohol Sunday Post Publisher
For half a century, the Bohol Chronicle succeeded in perpetuating the myth that anybody who touched it with a 10-foot pole will have to bear the bitter consequences. Meaning, as a media institution, for 50 years it has taken a life of his own that anybody who messes up with this media institution, the one thing he can hope for is that he would emerge in one piece.  If this Bglante may hazard a guess, it has come to a point that it can afford to claim an aura of invincibility.
No coward in the real sense, it earned the sobriquet, dragon slayer, because it considered public officials no sacred dragons. While other media enterprises adored sacred cows as if they are objects of pagan rituals, the Bohol Chronicle maintained its so-called independence. To the venerable paper, sacred cows are in fact milking cows to media interests beholden to the dispensers of favor.

Free Eye Check-up by the Rotarians

Hundreds of Ubayanons benefited from the recent free eye check up sponsored by the Rotarians.
The medical mission was held at the Ramon Magsaysay gymnasium on October 14.
Rotarian members from Canterbury, Australia screened the patients' vision, with the assistance from the Cataract Foundation of the Philippines, Rotary Club of Bacolod North, Tagbilaran and Ubay chapters through its president Rosalinda Cuyno and members.
Hosting them, Mayor Eutiquio Bernales welcomed them as he observed the whole activity until it wrapped up.
Patients with minor vision problems were advised to wear eyeglasses and sunglasses for protection while some were referred to a specialist based in Tagbilaran for further treatment.
Chair of the Sangguniang Bayan (SB) Committee on Health, Councilor Clarita Alesna, together with Dr. Edgardo Ladera, and Dr. Rethi Del Mar and RHU staff also expressed their support to the activity.

Mayor Dares Attack Dogs in Media

Tagbilaran Mayor Dan Lim yesterday said his publicized differences are with "attack dogs" and not the media.
"I understand the responsibilities of the media and I have no quarrel with that," he clarified.
Lim said there is "a big difference between legitimate media practitioners and attack dogs."
The mayor said what he is going up against are those who are "on attack mode" against him and his administration.
"They are committed to nothing less than the failure of my administration which is certainly not what the legitimate media should be doing," he added.
Lim pointed out that his critics see something every time he opens his mouth, in every project he undertakes and in all he does.
"I am always wrong even when everybody is always right," the outspoken mayor said.
The mayor said it is no secret that the "attack dogs&q…
