The newly-activated Municipal Disaster Coordinating Council (MDCC) here, conducted a two-day disaster management action planning seminar workshop on September 4 and 5 at the municipal gymnasium.
In the seminar, participants formulated measures on mitigation preparedness, response and rehabilitation when disaster such as typhoon will devastate the municipality.
Mayor Niño Rey Boniel, who chairs the MDCC, spearheaded the activity, in coordination with FO3 Edilberto Nuera, fire protection coordinator of Bien Unido and Trinidad.
Boniel had also designated Nuera as civil defense deputized coordinator and is tasked to manage the MDCC.
The activity was significant as this town lies in the northern part of Bohol which geographical location is prone to natural hazards, especially typhoons.
Acting as facilitators were Civil Defense Officer Ver Neil Balaba of the DND-OCD of Bohol; Provincial Disaster Coordinating Council Executive officer, retired Lt. Col. Raul Mendez; PNRC Administrator Rita Requeron; Merlinda Batoy, CSR-DMS-IHL, PNRC: T/Sgt Fermin Baluran, CRT-Bohol, 3 civil relation group, CRS, AFP; and SFO1 Francisco Manilag from the Bureau of Fire protection (BFP).
The lecturers facilitated the workshop and group discussions.
Participants included members of the Sangguniang Bayan (SB), heads of offices, police officers, personnel of the Department of Education, representatives from private schools, Non Government Organizations (NGOs), and some regular employees of the LGU. (Wilfredo Villamero-CMMO & INFO SVC MDCC)
