Workers Revamp at Provincial Capitol

Even before the impact of the feared reengineering plan was felt by affected officials and employees, a middle level revamp is now in the offing affecting three personalities.

This developed after a  bridging set up was put in place pending completion of the Information Education and Communication (IEC) phase of the revamp plan. The initial salvo of the reshuffling scheme affected three heads of offices where more demanding tasks  need focus.

The Capitol rigodon affected the offices of the Bohol Poverty Reduction Management Office (BPRMO) through its head Antonieto Pernia, Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO) of  John Titus Vistal, and Chief of Staff Emmanuel Caberte. Their assumption to their new posts was effective September 16.

Governor Erico Aumentado has given Pernia, also the head of the Provincial Government Media Affairs (PGMA), a more demanding task of establishing the cultivation of jatropha in 10,000 hectares in Bohol by 2010. The project is set in motion with Pernia at the helm to catch up  with the governor's term expiration in 2010. The operation of the BPRMO has been added to Vistal's functions.

Vistal will be assisted by Glicerio Doloritos as his point man in the day-to-day business, together with a casual employee, Paul Inting. Doloritos and Inting are Vistal's staff at the PPDO.

A permanent head of the BPRMO will be appointed after the reengineering, considering that Pernia has, since at the start, declined the governor's offer of a permanent position in the government.

Pernia also replaced Emmanuel Caberte as chief of staff of the Governor's Office after the latter, a former vice-mayor of Sevilla and an engineer by profession, has been assigned to the Provincial Engineer's Office to focus on the gigantic Sevilla waterworks project that would serve all 13 barangays of the town.

As point person of the provincial government's jatropha project, Pernia's additional tasks entail a lot of traveling that may cause him to sacrifice some BPRMO functions if he holds on to the office.

Moreover, his designation as chief of staff anchors on the governor's trust and confidence which he could conveniently deliver as having been the governor's spokesperson being head of the media affairs office. - Sunday Post

Antonio Ong Guat, the founder of Bohol Quality Store

From Sunday Post   I pay my sincerest condolences to Antonio Ong Guat, the founder of Bohol Quality Store . My family especially my late Mom owed a lot of gratitude to him. Little is known of the fact that my Mom as a school teacher, was making school teaching charts with her crude rubber printing set. I used to accompany her to Tagbilaran to buy her supplies at Bohol Quality Store, and bought her supplies direct from Ong Guat. Suki niya si Ong Guat to the point that he would attend to her when she goes to the store. In fact, nagpapautang pa siya ni Mom, which she paid when she sold her teaching materials to the new teachers. I suggest that the provincial and city governments should honor Ong Guat with a posthumous award in recognition of his efforts to be the founder of a business empire in Bohol, which has presently employed thousands of Boholanos presently. I think everybody agrees that his store sparked business to its fullest heights today. Fred Ong and his wife Babs Gonzaga we

Tindahan Natin operators here requested the National Food Authority (NFA) to add 20 more sacks of rice to their weekly supply, to make it 50 sacks for retail.       Tindahan Natin is a program of the government through the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).       Under the program, store owners can avail of loan worth P20,000 of NFA rice payable in one year.       Being a first-class municipality, Talibon is given a slot of only three Tindahan Natin operators.       Among them are are Eleuteria Pañares of Bagacay, Rosalinda Cabanes of Suba and Cipriana Padin of Cataban.       According to the Tindahan Nation operators, the present supply of 30 bags weekly is not enough to meet the requirement of the barangayfolks in this town.       The operators channeled their request through DSWD Regional Director Teodulo Romo Jr. to arrange with the NFA-Bohol Provincial Manager Clyde Omictin to add 20 more bags to their weekly supply.       Through the Tindahan Natin, constitue
